Job Description – Beertender – here.

FOOD PANTRY BENEFIT COLLECTS 2,114.05 LBS OF FOOD

Our Annual Smoke Beerfest, BBQ Competition and Food Pantry Benefit is pleased to announce that 2,114.05 pounds of food was collected during our annual event on May 19. Cash contributions collected equaled $1,000, which during the Can-Caravan doubles the amount of food raised for the Ord Food Pantry. 114.05 lbs. of food was also donated by patrons of the event.

The Smoked Beerfest, BBQ Competition and Food Pantry Benefit is made possible by several collaborative organizations to bring awareness to food insecurity in our community, along with celebrating American Craft Beer Week and May Beef Month. This event would not be possible with the generous donations from the Ord Locker, the Nebraska Cattlemen – Burwell affiliate, BBQ cook-off competitors and the customers that patronize the event.

Winners of this year’s BBQ competition included a tie for the tri-tip competition between Team Cathy and Tony Bruha, and Team Kokes, Plate and Novotny. The winner of the short-rib competition and overall winner was Team Hafer from Fairmont, Nebraska.

The families of Scratchtown Brewing Company would like to thank everyone involved in the Benefit, and encourage local residents to consider a cash or food donation to the Ord Food Pantry during their Can-Caravan drive. The last day to give is June 5th, 2018.
